Training & Fundraising Assistance
We are expanding training and support to nonprofits so that you can create effective peer-to-peer campaigns, use GiveBig to identify new donors, and leverage matching funds to increase your donations. 501 Commons will be sponsoring four learning events and is providing Fundraising Accelerator, a subscription service (free to registered/paid participants) that delivers an email every two weeks with explicit actions and links to resources and tools to keep you moving forward in your preparations for GiveBIG. We will also be promoting other fundraising events and resources that may be helpful to your giving day campaign and general fundraising.
Get ready for your GiveBIG campaign by using the Nonprofit Toolkit, which includes logos, branding materials, and how-to guides.

The Essentials of GiveBIG Success (attend either session)
Presented by Ariel Glassman
Session 1: Monday, Mar. 11 | 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Session 2: Thursday, Mar. 26 | 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The amount organizations raise during GiveBIG (from under $1000 to $300,000) depends on how many people they reach with their campaign and how compelling the story is they tell through their online profile, social media, and communications to supporters. You can expand the reach of this message by enlisting your donors and supporters in your campaign. This workshop will define and help you perfect the essential elements of a GiveBIG campaign. It will focus on developing a strong campaign plan, setting the right goals, segmenting your audiences and communications, securing and leveraging matching gifts, and more.
Learn how to take your successful GiveBIG campaign to the next level by exploring GiveBIG’s new peer-to-peer fundraising and corporate participation opportunities, aligning GiveBIG so it augments your overall fundraising strategy, advanced stewardship tactics, and more. This workshop is suitable for those who are confident in their existing giving day strategies and are primed to take advantage of the evolution of the GiveBIG platform and their donor base.

501 Commons: How Boards Define, Measure, and Achieve Fundraising Success
Tuesday, April 16 | 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Presenter: Peter Drury (Wellspring Family Services)
Nonprofits try lots of things when it comes to fundraising: Events, auctions, 10K's, grants, social media, house parties, major gifts, corporate giving, and the seemingly chronic "anything and everything we can" plan. Are you tired of trying so hard at the same old game? Find out what our region's most effective fundraising organizations know, prioritize, and evaluate as they create meaningful fundraising plans that unify leaders and fuel compelling causes.
Subscribe to Fundraising Accelerator!
Sign up to receive Fundraising Accelerator every two weeks (beginning February 18). Fundraising Accelerator gives you 3-6 specific things you can do to prepare for GiveBIG. This program, developed by Ostara Group, will help you stay on task and arrive on May 8 with a fully executed campaign strategy.
Fundraising Support for Organizations based in Immigrant and Refugee Communities
This program is focused on outreach to organizations that are based in refugee and immigrant communities. We can help you craft a strong profile, develop a list of current and potential donors, create and select powerful images or graphics that show your impact, and develop emails and social media posts that will reach new donors. We can also help you solicit funds from your current supporters to provide matching funds for GiveBIG and consider how you can set up a peer-to-peer campaign. If you would like to apply please email Camille Rochester at email@example.com.
We are seeking volunteers to assist nonprofits on the short-term (10-20 hour) fundraising assistance and communications projects described above. If you have expertise in marketing and awareness campaigns, case statements, data visualization, social media strategies, and general fundraising strategies, please email Camille Rochester at firstname.lastname@example.org. Projects will occur March-April.
